Filing a disability claim can be tedious and defeating

Hello, my fellow veterans! I pray that your day is going well and that you are surrounded by love at this moment.

It is a difficult task to file a disability claim, and unfortunately, some veterans give up on the process. However, I am here to tell you that I have been successful in doing so. Indeed, the task required a significant amount of time, and it often caused me emotional distress. When it comes to telling my story over and over again, I can assure you that I do not take pleasure in doing so. These memories are not pleasant, and the fact that I had to talk to a large number of IMEs only added to my stress. Remember that if you do not visit the appropriate IME, your case may crumble, necessitating an appeal.

The military did not release my records, which prolonged my recovery. I achieved some success with the support of other veterans and my congressman. On top of that, I tracked down a couple of my fellow service members after comprehensive research. The account of my stressors was confirmed by my friends and family. I am forever grateful.

Do I need a lawyer to file a claim?

What an excellent question! I can answer it solely based on my personal experience: no! I successfully submitted my claim with the assistance of an advocate; nonetheless, I can assert that I performed the majority of the demanding tasks. Advice: You must keep all paperwork and obtain your records. If you were hospitalized during your service (e.g., basic training, AIT), ensure you acquire all medical records and store them securely. Additionally, contact your former colleagues and solicit their support.

I was denied

The majority of claims are initially rejected and/or assigned a poor rating. You can appeal the decision and pray for a better outcome. Do not accept refusal unless you are content with the evaluation. Get your congressman involved and seek help from the American Legion. If you can’t reach the goals you were genetically programmed to reach, what’s the point of carrying on?

Keep going, soldier

Significant obstacles in pursuing your professional, health, and interpersonal objectives may lead to a desire to abandon life altogether. A desire to relinquish life signifies hopelessness, a predominant symptom of depression. Individuals who contemplate relinquishing their will to live are likely experiencing depression. Often the only thing that pushes us to work towards our goals is hope. When that hope is gone, the effort we put towards our goals goes with it. There’s no point in trying.

I’ll have more at a later date, and thank you for visiting.
