Teaching close-up magic to veterans to help enhance mental health!
I have been using close-up magic to entertain for more than 30 years, and I can say with certainty that mastering this technique has aided my PTSD. A person’s mental health can be improved by learning a new skill or even improving an existing one. According to research, developing new abilities can also enhance mental health by increasing self-esteem and confidence.
Helping you to build a sense of purpose. Helping you to connect with others. There are many ways to incorporate learning into your life, even if you feel like you do not have enough time or that you do not need to learn new things.
Give to others and show off your new skill!
Research suggests that acts of giving and kindness can help improve your mental well-being by:
- creating positive feelings and a sense of reward
- giving you a feeling of purpose and self-worth
- helping you connect with other people
It could be small acts of kindness towards other people or larger ones like volunteering in your local community. Your mental health can be enhanced by focusing more on the here and now. This encompasses your body, your thoughts and emotions, and your surroundings.

Some people call this awareness “mindfulness.” Mindfulness (e.g., a good card trick) can help you enjoy life more and understand yourself better. Seeing a flattering result can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.
