More about this blog and how you can help a veteran

Keeping this blog current and captivating has been difficult, but my goal is to keep it engaging. In addition to offering helpful information, this blog also aspires to support veterans and those who are looking to lend a hand to a veteran. I and many other disabled veterans have little income, but we are lucky to have community support. As many in the community are aware, the mental battle does not end even when one is away from the battlefield, and I am constantly inspired to help my fellow service members.

PTSD is not synonymous with war

However, keep in mind that being a soldier in the war and suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder are two unique things and that mental illness impacts everyone differently. Alternatively, a soldier might have endured a terrifying ordeal that haunts them to this day. There could have been physical or sexual harm to a soldier. You would not believe how frequently it occurs and the subsequent shame that follows, so there is no need to roll your eyes.

How can you help?

You can help out a fellow veteran in countless ways, and believe me when I say that everyone appreciates it. Our (veterans’) commitment to you and our country is for life. Although it does not help us recover completely, getting away from all the stress is beneficial, and you can contribute as well. I am presenting you with opportunities to assist a veteran who possesses the proper veteran ID.

  • Be a volunteer at the VA hospital in your area.
  • Use your skills to help others–at no cost.
  • Have a spare bedroom? Be a hero to a veteran (with proper ID) by offering them a place to stay when they need a break from the daily grind, and you will feel wonderful.
  • An automobile can be a wonderful gift to the Veterans Administration.
  • Support a local shelter that provides services to veterans by donating food.
  • Donate a vacation to a veteran.
  • Help out a fellow veteran and their family by donating your unused vacation home or bed and breakfast.
  • Offer to drive a veteran to an appointment–medical or otherwise.

My recent vacation was free, and I benefited mentally from seeing the stunning sights in St. Thomas, the Dominican Republic, and San Juan. The experience was extraordinary and reduced my stress significantly. Because the different scenery was mentally pleasing, I intend to travel back to these locations soon.

Thank you for your time and understanding.
